Contra looks like fun, looks a lot like Time Slip for the SNES.... that was a really hard game. I don't know how many times I tried to beat Time Slip

Contra's a hard game for me, and I grew up playing 2D games--it sounds like this kid has little to no experience with 2D games. Seems an odd choice to me, wouldn't you want to start him out on something more accessible?

He's close-minded because he's the next-generation. He used to play 3d games with high quality graphics, its obvious that he doesn't like this game.

Strangely enough I just played that game yesterday on my Mom's hand me down NES. (I'm 14)
Only problem with the NES (and I know it's natural) is the Nintendo Blow and the fact that it resets like every 15 minutes so I can't really beat any game on it anyday.

I know. Most of the games today are all concept and graphics instead of difficulty and fun. Even Zelda is evolving too fast for my liking.

You guys are completely retarded, how is the kid close minded? This system probably was out before he was born. A.) Contra was what 1992-1999? Obviously not catered to his generation, yeah he complained about he graphics? so what! He was born into a generation where he had 60 fps, retarded awesome rendering and much more. You really expect him to go with the flow that the game is FUCKIN AWESOME!!!! thats like having a 00 gamming computer and going back to your MS DOS computer, yeah im sure you would whine your ass off.

you make excellent points

it is very easy for us (older perhaps) to sit in judgement but he was not brought up on these games, so how could you expect different?

would you like windows 3.1 if someone gave it to you now as your OS?

I think the major haters here are just youngins themselves, maybe 15 or so and think they are all that cause they can bash an 11yearold

cant wait for battletoads, and do some megamans, or donkey kong

I actually just sat down and rocked through Contra using an NES emulator on the Wii like 2 days with 2 off my kids (9 and 7) watching. They thought is was funny to see the lack of character shadows, simewhat silly boss fights and refered to the spread gun as representing the games '"shotgun". It makes you appreciate what games have grown to become!

Give the kid a break, for Christ's sake. If someone came to you when you were a Contra-playing 11 year old and asked you to play a few rounds of pong, of course you would have reacted the same.

For the record, Contra's one of my favourite games of all time.
