Your Skill Level in TF2; By Class
· Written by Andrew · Thursday, 16 July 2009 04:00 ·
One thing about a class based FPS is that all classes are not created equal. Or are they? They certainly don't feel that way in Team Fortress 2 but perhaps that's not the fault of the character but of the player, who gets sucked into playing each class a certain way. Well that's what I think. Certain classes not only attract certain mindsets but they promote it through the skill set that they have to offer. You might be a great team player as a medic, but you switch to sniper and forget that there is a team game going on while you play footsies with the other team's sniper. To illustrate the rise and fall of your skill with each class, I present a quick and dirty chart. Now, don't get me wrong, this is not the way it has to be, certainly a well skilled and focused pyro can be the most powerful player on the map, its just that inevitably they get the most kills and then forget that they are good at anything else. This is just one example, and I'm biased, so please debate.

I'm sure I'll take some heat for the spy, but I just find they are (generally) NOT team players. They could be one of the most strategic classes, keeping dropped intel alive, sapping sentries, communicating enemy locations and saving captures, but they just want backstabs backstabs backstabs. Sitting on the bridge in 2Fort or just inside the entrance, stabbing people when they come around corners. You are NOT a credit to your team. Team Fortress, not Kill Fortress. Play for the win, not for the score, and that goes for you too Mr backburner 24x7.

I had a desire to begin my commerce, but I did not have enough amount of cash to do that. Thank God my close colleague recommended to utilize the business loans. Thence I used the financial loan and made real my old dream.

Don't even get me started with Pyros. I had to quit a game last night because a pyro would continually hide on his battlements, wait for a soldier to enter the front door and then pop down with the backburner. Kills stats are killing real CTF.

this is when it would be great to ask your team's spy to sneak into the battlements and take care of the camper. There is a solution to every problem, thats the great balance this game has, its just hard to get a full team working together

Pretty decent idea. I agree with some points, disagree with others but the one suggestion I would have is to color the numbers on the graph the same color as the line/class you are talking about. The chart feels slightly jumbled and cramped and I looked at the wrong line a couple of times.

I think Heavy is far more important than you give credit for here.

I find that if you play pyro how it should be played ie stick with the group and protect using your flair gun to give crits it can be a very helpful class but the best way to play is to use the class that is needed ie if there are a lot of sentries go demo if there are few or no medics go medic.

I completely agree with this chart, when it says that the demoman is the best class, or can easily become the one, since in public severs at least it's kinda difficult to have teams playing together to win, so you have to do it all by yourself.

Poor bastard heavy shouldn't be described as the most useless for mere aesthetic effects in this chart.

Snipers are needed for the team to help take down Heavy and Medic teams.
